Christmas is just around the corner, and it can feel like there is so much to do before the big day. Making your home cosy for the holidays shouldn’t feel stressful but a fun time for all the family to get together and help. Here, we share some of our easy wins, a few ideas and some of our favourite local suppliers who can sprinkle a little Christmas magic on your home this festive season.
Perfect your Christmas table:

A big part of Christmas has to be the food (it certainly is in our house) but perfecting your Christmas table for the festive season can be really fun and sets the scene perfectly if done well. Mixing items that you can use year-round as well as the festive season is not only great for the wallet but looks fantastic too. Subtle pinks and sage greens are on trend in the property world and will look just right at Christmas too. https://www.shoptufnells.co.uk/ in Lindfield have some lovely table decorations in store. I particularly like their crystal LED light chains that would look stunning anywhere in the home or on the table.
Foraging outside to create a table garland can be a great way to get the kids involved. Mixing some holly with small branches of fir can create a wonderful centrepiece that will last for days.
Now, we can’t mention the table without talking turkeys! We’ve been getting ours from https://theoaksfarm.co.uk/in Ditchling for years and wouldn’t go anywhere else.
Bring in the outdoors:

Christmas is synonymous with fir trees, open fires and frosty mornings but bringing some elements of the outside into your home can make the home feel really welcoming and cosy. Foraging for holly, pine cones and fallen fir branches can make lovely home-made decorations or head down to one of our many garden centres to see their options.
If you’re feeling creative, https://www.hartcountrystores.co.uk/ are hosting Christmas Wreath workshops in December where you can create your very own masterpiece while enjoying a glass of fizz and mince pies. What more could you ask for?
Get cosy with candles:

Winter in our house is definitely candle season so why not treat yourself to a new fragrance this festive season. Our favourites from https://www.hartcountrystores.co.uk/ are their ‘3 Tone Ombre Blue Dinner Candles which have a contemporary unique ombre design in shades of blue, yellow and green. (Or pink, yellow and orange!) Each pack includes three dinner candles perfect for table settings or for home décor. Alternatively, https://www.blossomandroar.com/ Holly themed festive candles are hand painted and come tied in a beautiful red satin ribbon that will look perfect in any house on its own or part of any table decoration. These are sure to sell out, so you’ll need to be quick!
Decorate with your favourite pieces:

Decorating the home at Christmas can often feel like you’re buying new items that will only be on show for a few weeks of the year but it’s worth keeping your favourite pieces and complimenting them with any new items you pick up. We love supporting our local small businesses and https://www.blossomandroar.com/in Cuckfield have some gorgeous pieces from Christmas baubles to beautifully scented candles. You’re going to need something equally as fabulous to carry it all in, so I’d recommend their Forest Tree reusable tote bag to add a little more glam.
Wine and dine with your favourite people:

Setting the scene for your guests is a hugely important so lighting has to be on point, I find https://www.pepperboxinteriors.co.uk/ in Cuckfield always has so many hidden treasures so is worth paying a visit.
With so many fantastic vineyards and distilleries dotted around we are truly spoilt for choice in Sussex when it comes to a tipple of your choice. We were lucky enough to be invited to https://www.wolstonbury.co/ which is nestled in the South Downs National Park to sample some of their produce and I can honestly say it didn’t disappoint. Their Chalk ’21 was an elegant sparkling wine, perfect for celebrating any occasion. Another fantastic local producer is https://ditchling-gin.com/, which is an award-winning local company creating small batch gin. Combining the love of Sussex with their love of Gin, it’s not hard to see why they have made it such a success – I know I’ll be enjoying a G & T this Christmas.
If you’re hosting a party but the idea of cooking isn’t appealing, then check out https://www.hartcountrystores.co.uk/ in Haywards Heath for some award-winning food and larder items that showcase some brilliant British produce combined with some exciting treats from further afield. With delicious treats that not only look great but taste fantastic as well, this allows you to full enjoy the party as much as your guests. And if it all gets a bit much, pop in store for one of their brilliant breakfasts or lunches.
With all that said, Christmas really should be a time to enjoy getting together with family and friends and treating yourself, so make sure you take time out to enjoy this festive season.
