Lindfield is a beautiful village in the heart of Mid-Sussex rich in architectural and historic heritage and classified as An Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Perfect for families of all ages, Lindfield epitomises everything that we love about the area with its tree lined high street, welcoming community feel and fantastic links to London and Gatwick from nearby Haywards Heath. You will find yourself wanting to come back again and again.
Shop:
Along the high street you will find an abundance of shops and services including a co-op, fantastic gift shop, Cottenham’s Butchers, South Downs Cellars wine merchant, a florist, Hamilton Stone Kitchen Design shop, several restaurants and some fantastic local pubs including The Stand Up Inn, The Bent Arms and The Witch Inn. You also can’t go down the high street without a visit into Field & Forest for some delicious ice cream.
Stay:
Dating back to the 17th Century, The Bent Arms is a superb country pub and former coaching inn offering simple rooms with full cooked breakfast. The Limes Apartments is a more modern option offering comfortable accommodation.
Live:
With over 40 Medieval and post Medieval timber-framed houses still standing, there is a rich history here. Combined with some beautiful Georgian, Victorian and modern new build developments, the variety of property is vast and caters for all. While the sheep fair is a thing of the past on Lindfield Common, there are still numerous festivals and fairs that carry on today including a spectacular bonfire parade and firework display, annual art fair every September as well as a popular viewing spot to watch the cyclists pass through on the London to Brighton bike ride.
Learn:
Catering for all ages from Lindfield Primary Academy & Blackthorns Community Primary Academy to Great Walstead there is a good selection of state and independent education on offer.
Did you know:
Lindfield is derived from the Old English Linden + field, meaning ‘open land where lime-trees grow’ and was first recorded as far back at c.765 AD with the parish Church, All Saints Church standing at the top of the high street dating back to 1098.
